1. Our commitment

AskMerino is committed to operating in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Your wardrobe, photographs and preferences are personal, and we take data protection, security and responsible AI seriously.

2. Data protection

We comply with applicable data protection laws, including:

  • The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR for users in the EEA and UK.
  • India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) for users in India.

  • Other applicable privacy laws in jurisdictions where we operate.

Our Privacy Policy describes in detail how we collect, use and protect personal data. Users may exercise their data rights by contacting us at hello@askmerino.com.

3. Google user data

AskMerino's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We request only your name, email address and profile picture.

4. Security practices

We implement technical and organisational measures to protect data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS.
  • Passwordless sign-in through Google, with no passwords stored by us.
  • Removal of photo backgrounds on your device before anything is uploaded.
  • Access controls that limit who can reach production systems.
  • Regular security reviews as the Service grows.
  • Incident response procedures to address breaches promptly.

5. Sub-processors and third parties

We use reputable third-party providers for sign-in, hosting, storage, weather, payments and AI infrastructure. Each sub-processor is bound by data processing agreements consistent with applicable law. We evaluate providers for security and compliance before engaging them.

6. AI and responsible use

We are committed to responsible AI. Merino suggests outfits only from the clothes you own, and we never use your photographs or conversations to train AI models offered to anyone else. Our Terms of Service prohibit using AskMerino to upload harmful, illegal or deceptive content, or photographs of other people without their permission, and we work to detect and prevent misuse.

7. Accessibility

We aim to make the Service accessible to as many people as possible and are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). If you experience accessibility barriers, please contact us so we can help.
